On 10th of April
2017 a group of 4 students from class 3a (Simon, Emil, Patricia and
Peter) took part in a theatre play competition in Gimnazjum 11 that
was a second part of the contest named – “Famous faces and
their places”. Here is what Simon Gumiela (member or the
group) says about the whole thing:
I’ve got to say
that we all came through a long way of preparations, including
passing the first part of the competition that required making
digital presentation about two Poles , one from nowadays and the
other from the past who put a lot of effort into promoting Poland
abroad. Together with friends I decided to describe Robert
Lewandowski and Andrzej Wajda. And the first one, was the main
character of the short play prepared for the second part of the
competition.
At the beginning
there were some casual small talks. Afterwards, all groups had to
draw the number in the queue, our team was 8th. After
seeing others schools theatre plays we quickly realized that the
scenario created by them was way different from ours. Instead of
focusing on the history of a character we wanted to show some part of
his life, and we did it in a funny way. The scene was all about
Robert Lewandowski (Polish footballer) arguing with his wife,
unexpectedly neither about the lack of time connected with his
uncommon work nor anything like that, but about him disobeying rules
of the diet plan that was created by Anna – his beloved wife.
Believe me or not
but the jury was laughing all the play long, that’s probably
because during other plays it wasn’t easy to stay awake, according
to many, majority of scenes were simply dull. Ours turned out to be
hilarious.
In the end, after
hours of waiting jury announced who was the winner. Unfortunately
that wasn’t us, but we managed to came in honorable third place.
Even though we
didn’t win and our dreams of going on a trip to European Parliament
are ruined, we don’t feel ashamed. We all consider that competition
as a great opportunity to learn and improve ourselves mainly in the
skill of speaking a foreign language in public. Moreover, we had a
great fun during the preparations and that’s the most important
after all.
